Winner by scenario

  • AI agents that call tools and APIs (MCP, code, multi-LLM)
    Botpress →
Bi-directional MCP, a TypeScript SDK and six LLM providers installed side by side in the reviewed workspace. Landbot documents no MCP and offers OpenAI and Gemini connections.
  • No-code flow canvas for non-developers
    Landbot →
Bot-building 88 against 78, conversation design 86 against 82, and a Capterra Ease of Use of 4.5 against 4.1. Botpress reviewers split between Ease of Use and a steep learning curve.
  • Price of a first paid bot
    Landbot →
$45 for 500 chats against $189 for 250 conversations. The units differ, but at SMB volumes Landbot is the cheaper way in by a factor of four or more.
  • Integrations and channel breadth
    Botpress →
A 200+ integration Hub with Slack, Teams, Discord, Instagram, Telegram and SMS channels, against Landbot's website, WhatsApp, Messenger and API set.
  • Volume pricing above roughly 1,350 conversations a month
    Botpress →
Team at $939 includes 1,500 conversations and AI usage; Plus top-ups at $65 per hundred make Plus the dearer path from about 1,350. Landbot's plans scale by chat packs, not by a single flat tier.
  • EU procurement posture
    Landbot →
Barcelona HQ, a Trust Center with SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and a dated subprocessor list. Botpress also states SOC 2 and GDPR and is the stronger of the two on compliance score (88 against 70), so this one is close.
Quick answer~1 min

Botpress and Landbot both build chatbots for your website, but they are built for different people. Botpress is a developer-first AI agent platform: a visual Studio, a code-first SDK, a 200+ integration Hub, native bi-directional MCP, and conversation-based pricing that starts at $189 a month monthly-billed ($150 annual). Landbot is a no-code conversation-design tool: the cleanest drag-and-drop canvas in our batch, a permanent free website bot, and plans from $45 a month ($110 for Professional, $220 once you add a WhatsApp number), with extra chats and AI chats metered. The shortcut: if a marketer builds and owns the bot, and the job is lead capture or FAQ on your site, pick Landbot. If engineers own it, the agent has to call your systems, and you need MCP, a code workflow or several LLM providers, pick Botpress. Botpress scores higher overall (81 against 72), but the lead comes from AI, integrations and developer experience, not from the things a small marketing team shops on, where Landbot is cheaper and easier.

Editorial TL;DR — what the nine-point gap is made of~2 min

The headline scores are 81 for Botpress and 72 for Landbot, and the reviews' own weighted sums are 79.96 and 72.29, a gap of 7.67 on the canonical weights. The composition matters more than the number. Botpress leads on AI/NLU (+14, worth 2.10 points because the dimension carries 15% of the weight), integrations (+18), compliance (+18), channels (+14), performance (+20) and developer experience (+33). Landbot leads on bot-building (+10), pricing (+14), conversation design (+4), practical UX (+4) and value for money (+11). The weighted pricing deficit is 1.68 points against Botpress, and developer experience carries only 5% of the weight, so the largest single gap in the matrix (+33) adds just 1.65 points. Three renormalized readings follow in the matrix: dropping pricing and value for money widens the gap to 11.39; dropping developer experience narrows it to 6.34; dropping developer experience, performance and ecosystem narrows it to 5.44. Whichever way it is cut, Botpress is ahead, and by at least five points.

The harder question is whether the evidence is the same quality on each side. It is not, and in neither direction does it settle the ordering. Landbot's scenario figures are structural projections, with in-product measurement still scheduled. Botpress's review describes its testing three ways: eleven hours on a Plus account, a 75-minute Free-tier walkthrough, and a calibrated simulation. So every scenario figure on this page is labeled as a protocol figure of undetermined class and no cumulative friction score is published. The purchase decision rests on the product and the price list, not on those numbers.

Quick verdict by use-case

Each row is judged from the two reviews' dimension scores and the pricing pages, weighted by what the buyer in that row cares about, not by editorial whim.

A marketer builds a website lead-capture bot without developer help

Landbot's canvas scores 88 on bot-building against Botpress at 78, the Logic category includes lead scoring and A/B test blocks, and native HubSpot and Shopify connectors avoid middleware. A first paid plan is $45 a month. Botpress can do the job but its reviewers describe a learning curve at the production stage. An engineering team building an agent that calls internal APIs and tools

A TypeScript SDK, hooks and custom actions, per-call LLM cost surfaced in analytics, and an MCP server and client. Landbot has an API and webhooks from Professional but no code-first runtime and no documented MCP. See function calling and AI agents.

MCP, multi-LLM routing or a model of your own

Botpress ships MCP in both directions and lists OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq and Hugging Face as providers. One caveat travels with the claim: Botpress's own SDK docs say using your own LLM is available on Enterprise plans, so full BYOLLM is not a Plus-tier feature. Landbot connects OpenAI and Gemini only.

Small business on a budget of $50 a month or less

Landbot Free runs a real website bot permanently and Starter is $45. Botpress Free is 100 conversations and the first paid step is $189, so a $50 budget cannot buy a Botpress production bot. See best chatbots for small business.

WhatsApp as the main channel

Botpress unlocks WhatsApp from Plus at $189; Landbot adds a number for $220 (Professional WA). Both are on the official API. Both reviews report a long onboarding rather than a measured one, and WhatsApp specialists are cheaper per feature. See best WhatsApp chatbots and the WhatsApp Business API entry.

Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord as the surface

Botpress lists all three as Hub channels from Plus. Landbot has none of them as a bot channel (Slack appears only as an integration), and its channel set is website, WhatsApp, Messenger and API.

EU company whose procurement team asks where the vendor sits

A Barcelona-headquartered vendor with a Trust Center listing SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, a DPA and a dated subprocessor list. Botpress states SOC 2, GDPR and a KPMG penetration test and scores 88 on compliance to Landbot's 70, so the real difference is a vendor in the EU, not a stronger certificate list.

Predictable monthly cost with a hard spend cap

Botpress auto-recharges conversation packs on paid tiers with no hard cap; Landbot meters extra chats at EUR 25 per 500 and AI chats at EUR 0.10. Both bills move with volume. Set the alerts each vendor offers (Botpress at 75 and 100 percent of quota, Landbot at 80 and 90) before launch.

Healthcare or other regulated data

Botpress itemized a HIPAA BAA on Enterprise in May and no longer itemizes it on the 7 October pricing matrix; Landbot advertises no BAA. Neither claim should be relied on without a signed document. See the chatbot data privacy guide.

Side-by-side at a glance

Both platforms were last re-checked against their vendor pages on 7 October 2026 (pricing, channels, compliance, AI stack), with aggregator figures carried from the 26 May 2026 scans. Pricing follows our monthly-billed rule; annual equivalents are shown where they exist.

Reading note. The two Value for Money lines are measured against different category floors ($35 for Botpress, $17.86 for Landbot), so 0.150 against 0.77 does not say Landbot is five times better value. It says Botpress sits further above its floor. Compare the dollar prices in the section below, not the ratios.

Pricing head-to-head

Both pricing pages were re-read on 7 October 2026 by the source reviews. Landbot bills in euros from the EU and in dollars elsewhere, detected automatically, so a US buyer pays the USD list price rather than a converted euro price. Botpress shows annual rates by default; the monthly toggle is the comparison basis here.

A live read of both pricing pages on 11 October 2026 confirmed Botpress Plus at $150 annual with 250 conversations, $65 per extra 100, $25 of AI usage and WhatsApp, Team at $750 annual with 1,500 conversations, $50 per extra 100 and $150 of AI usage, and Landbot's euro prices, allowances, EUR 0.10 AI chats, EUR 25 per 500 extra chats and the EUR 100 WhatsApp add-on. The read did not render Botpress's monthly toggle and showed Landbot in euros only, so the monthly-billed Botpress figures ($189, $939) and Landbot's USD list ($45, $110, $220) rest on the 7 October reviews. Landbot's page was ambiguous on which channels Starter includes; we follow the review.

The units are not the same. Botpress counts a conversation as any exchange with at least two end-user messages in the billing month, counts test conversations in the emulator, and counts a conversation spanning two months in both. Landbot's review gives allowances in chats without defining the term. The scenarios below treat one Landbot chat as one Botpress conversation, which is an assumption, so read the gap as an order of magnitude, not a quote.

Three standardized scenarios (monthly cost, USD list, before Meta fees)

Website lead-capture and FAQ bot, 400 conversations or chats a month, 150 AI chats, no WhatsApp

Botpress
Plus $189 includes 250 conversations; 150 over means two packs of 100 at $65 each ($130). AI usage is included. Effective: $319/mo ($280 if you commit annually on the base). Free covers only 100 conversations.
LandbotWinner
Starter $45 includes 500 chats and 100 AI chats; 50 AI chats over at $0.10 is $5. Effective: $50/mo (EUR 40 plus about EUR 5 for an EU buyer). Free would not cover 400 chats.

At SMB volume the entry tiers decide the bill. Landbot Starter plus 50 AI chats over the 100 allowance is $50; Botpress needs Plus plus two top-up packs, $319. The gap is about six times, and it shrinks as volume rises.

Website plus WhatsApp for a three-person team, 1,200 conversations or chats a month, 400 AI chats

Botpress
Plus $189 plus 950 conversations over the 250 allowance, ten packs at $65: $839/mo. Team is $939 and unlocks unlimited seats and RBAC, which a three-person team may not need.
LandbotWinner
Professional WA $220 covers 2,500 chats, 500 AI chats, 3 seats and one WhatsApp number. Effective: $220/mo plus Meta's fee and EUR 0.05 per marketing, utility or authentication message.

Landbot Professional WA at $220 covers 2,500 chats and 500 AI chats, so volume does not move the bill. Botpress Plus plus ten top-up packs reaches $839, just under Team at $939. Meta fees come on top of both and are not compared here.

Four developers plus two support staff, RBAC, MCP, 1,500 conversations a month across webchat, WhatsApp and Slack

BotpressWinner
Team $939/mo monthly-billed, $750/mo on an annual commit ($9,000 a year). 1,500 conversations and $150 of AI usage are included. Above 1,500, packs cost $50 per hundred: 2,000 conversations is $1,189 and 3,000 is $1,689.
Landbot
Business, custom from EUR 400 a month with 5+ seats and a WhatsApp number included. Not publicly priced for this profile, and it still lacks MCP and the Slack and Teams channels, so it would not be a like-for-like replacement.

This is the profile Team was built for, and the one Landbot cannot match: no MCP, no Slack or Teams channel, and Business is custom-priced. Botpress at $939 monthly ($750 annual) is the only publicly priced option that fits.

Where Botpress's pricing flips

Botpress Plus and its top-up packs stay cheaper than Team until about 1,350 conversations a month (Plus plus eleven packs is $904). From 1,351 conversations Plus plus twelve packs is $969, above Team's $939, so Team wins, and from 2,000 conversations Team's $50 packs widen the gap. Below roughly 300 conversations a month a Botpress bill of $189 buys capacity most SMBs never use. Those figures come straight from the two published top-up rates and were recomputed with whole packs.

How the ranking was constructed

17-dimension scoring rubric (methodology v3.12.1)

Every ranked platform is scored 0–100 against the rubric below — 17 dimensions in 6 weighted clusters. Cluster weights are published; per- dimension weights inside each cluster are documented in the methodology page and the per-review POC notes sibling file. Cluster weights were rebalanced in v3.12.1 (May 2026) to bring Pricing-and-Value closer to AI/NLU parity — reflecting the SMB persona's reality where price is a primary decision driver alongside AI capability.

Why cluster weights, not per-dimension percentages: Cluster-level resolution is the right granularity for SMB buyers — tells you what the score means without inviting vendors to game individual dimension weights. Same practice used by G2 and Forrester.

Scoring isolation: Every Tier 1 review's editorial score is locked before any commercial relationship is evaluated. Affiliate availability never affects scoring. Documented at /methodology#editorial-policy.

Compared to industry frameworks: Same family as Forrester Wave's 25–30 weighted criteria and G2 Grid's Market-Presence/Satisfaction axes. Scoped to SMB chatbot specialists at SMB price points (Gartner Magic Quadrant covers enterprise-tier CX broadly).

Feature parity matrix — 17 dimensions

The 17-dimension rubric applied side by side, with the weights the reviews publish. Δ = Botpress − Landbot (positive means Botpress leads) and the last column is the Δ multiplied by the weight, so you can see how many points of the gap each row carries.

Weighted sums on the canonical weights: Botpress 79.96, Landbot 72.29, a gap of 7.67 against the headline 81 against 72 (a nine-point headline gap). Both headline figures sit within the plus-or-minus 2 tolerance of their recomputed sums.

Three renormalized readings (weights rescaled over the dimensions kept):

ReadingBotpressLandbotGap
All 17 dimensions79.9672.297.67
Without pricing and value for money (a buyer who has already set the budget)83.4872.0911.39
Without developer experience (a buyer with no engineers)79.1772.836.34
Without developer experience, performance and ecosystem (a buyer who only looks at the product surface)79.3173.875.44

Botpress leads on every reading, but only on dimensions it is built for. A reading that also drops AI/NLU, the most Botpress-favorable row at 15% weight, is not run here, because AI quality is the reason most buyers evaluate either tool in 2026.

The three rows that decide most pairings:

  1. Developer experience and MCP (+33). If your team writes TypeScript, this is the reason to pick Botpress; if nobody on it does, the row is irrelevant to you.
  2. Pricing (-14) and bot-building (-10). The two rows a marketing buyer weighs most both favor Landbot.
  3. Integrations (+18). 200+ against 16+ native is a wide gap, but check that the three or four tools you actually use are on Landbot's list before treating it as one; HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe, Airtable and Calendly all are.

Six-scenario delta — read the evidence line first

The six-scenario protocol was reported by both reviews, but neither report is clean. Landbot's figures are structural projections anchored to a Manychat reference, backed by a 14-day Pro-trial walkthrough that did not exercise RAG accuracy, WhatsApp template approval, the custom funnel builder or metered AI cost at scale. Botpress's review states three different bases: eleven hours on a Plus account, a 29 May Free-tier session that left Plus-only items (multi-bot, MCP end to end, BAA workflow) unexercised, and a calibrated-simulation note on the 14-minute figure in its evidence ledger. Every figure below is therefore a protocol figure of undetermined class on both sides. No cumulative friction score is published and no row is scored as a win.

C — WhatsApp commerce flow22 min setup; template approval 5-7 days, stated as not Meta BSP-certified35-50 min projected including Stripe; approval 24-72 h projected against a vendor-cited 1-2 weeksThe weakest comparison on the page: Botpress's WhatsApp flow is noted as not run to production in its own ledger, and Landbot's is a projection. Meta documents up to 24 hours for template review; see the WhatsApp message templates entry.
D — Knowledge-base answers86% answer accuracy, 85% citation, 9% hallucination on 15 questions over 5 PDFs72-82% accuracy, 65-78% citation, 12-20% hallucination projectedA reported figure against a projected range. Directionally consistent with Botpress's higher AI score; not a measured gap. See reducing hallucinations.
E — Human handover3/5 friction; routing and RBAC need Team-tier setup4/5; multi-agent inbox with Pause and End controlsLandbot reports the higher figure; Botpress's handover works but is configured, not default.
F — AnalyticsSolid dashboards for agent work; LLM cost and KB hit rate widgets3.5/5; conversation table, raw export, funnel builder partialDifferent jobs: Botpress measures the agent, Landbot measures the funnel.
What the scenarios do and do not show~1 min

Read together, the six rows are consistent with the dimension scores: Botpress is stronger where the work is AI answers (D) and weaker where the work is operations around people (E), and Landbot is faster to a first working bot on a website (A, B). They are consistent with those scores, not a confirmation of them. A reader who needs one of these numbers to hold up, for example the 5-7 day versus 24-72 hour template approval, should run the scenario on a trial account of each tool and treat our figures as the question, not the answer.

Who should pick which — side-by-side strengths and weaknesses

Tick three or more boxes on one side and that is your platform. If one "when not" entry on your preferred side is a hard gap for your business, switch.

Strengths

  • MCP in both directions
A Botpress agent can expose itself as an MCP server and call external MCP servers, a combination the review calls rare in the category. See Model Context Protocol.
  • Code-first and visual in one workspace
Studio for the canvas, an SDK and CLI for TypeScript, hooks and custom actions, structured logs. The developer-experience score of 95 is the highest on either side of this pair.
  • AI that works on day one, with the cost shown
A new workspace ships with a working LLM and $0.10 of AI usage per conversation included; analytics show per-call cost. No separate provider invoice on top.
  • Channels engineers actually use
Slack, Microsoft Teams and Discord as first-class Hub channels, alongside webchat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram and SMS.
  • Strong review base
493 G2 reviews at 4.5 and a 97 percent positive Capterra sentiment, the most-reviewed ai-agent platform on G2 in our batch.

Weaknesses

  • The first paid step is $189
Eleven times the cheapest messenger-builder tier and four times Landbot Starter. The free tier is a test bench, not a deployment.
  • No hard spend cap
Auto-recharged packs on paid tiers, with pausing the only brake. Budget alerts at 75 and 100 percent of quota.
  • Learning curve at production stage
G2 reviewers split between Ease of Use (137 mentions) and Learning Curve (91 combined). Hooks, actions and logs are developer-IDE surfaces.
  • Own LLM and voice are Enterprise
Using your own LLM is available on Enterprise plans per Botpress's SDK docs; the voice channel is Enterprise-only.
  • WhatsApp is not its strength
Not Meta BSP-certified per its review, with a reported 5-7 day template approval and no local-payment integrations.

Strengths

  • The cleanest canvas in the batch
Block taxonomy with conditions, formulas, lead scoring and A/B tests; templates for lead gen, survey and support; G2 4.7 on 333 reviews.
  • A real free website bot
Free gives 100 chats a month on the website permanently, and Starter is $45.
  • Native CRM and commerce connectors
HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe, Mailchimp and Segment without middleware; premium CRM connectors from Professional.
  • Hybrid AI and rule-based control
The AI Agent block scaffolds role, constraints, context and steps, which helps where hallucination risk needs hard guardrails.
  • EU vendor with a Trust Center
Barcelona HQ, SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, a DPA and a dated subprocessor list.

Weaknesses

  • Fewer channels
No Instagram, Telegram, SMS, Email, TikTok or voice, and no Slack or Teams as a bot channel.
  • WhatsApp is a $220 plan
Professional plus a number, and EUR 0.05 per marketing, utility or authentication message on top of Meta's fee.
  • Metered chats and AI chats
Extra chats at EUR 25 per 500 and AI chats at EUR 0.10; the AI meter reaches the Business entry price at about 3,300 AI chats a month.
  • No MCP and no code-first runtime
An API and webhooks from Professional, but no documented MCP and no SDK-led workflow.
  • Modest, dated funding
About $10.2M total, last round January 2021, against Botpress's 2025 Series B. Worth weighing for a multi-year bet.

How to actually decide — three questions, in order

  1. Who will maintain the bot in six months? If it is a marketer or an operations lead, choose Landbot; if it is an engineer, choose Botpress. This one question settles most pairings, and it is the one the overall score does not capture.
  2. Does the agent have to take actions in your systems? Booking, order lookup, ticket creation and queries through tools or MCP point to Botpress. If the bot's job ends at capturing a lead and handing it to a CRM, Landbot's native connectors are enough.
  3. What will your monthly conversation count be? Under about 500, Landbot is the cheaper tool by a wide margin. Between 500 and roughly 1,350, Botpress gets expensive per conversation. Above about 1,350, Botpress Team becomes a flat, predictable bill that includes AI usage.

If you answer "marketer, lead capture, under 500", the page ends here: Landbot. If you answer "engineer, actions, over 1,500", it ends in the other place. Mixed answers usually mean you are evaluating a third tool, which the next section lists.

Pattern reconciliation — what the signals mean~2 min

Botpress. The top positive G2 theme is ease of use (137 mentions), alongside integration breadth and multi-LLM flexibility. The top negatives are learning curve (60 plus 31 mentions), poor documentation (29) and surprise at how fast conversation top-ups stack. Capterra sub-ratings: Ease of Use 4.1, Features 4.3, Value for Money 4.4, Customer Service 4.0. There is no TrustPilot page, as is common for developer-focused B2B products.

Landbot. G2 themes are the clean visual builder and conversation-design fluency; negatives cluster on price at the European tier and on AI-chat metering. Capterra: Ease of Use 4.5, Customer Service 4.2. The TrustPilot sample is ten reviews, too small to weigh.

Reconciliation. The two pools disagree on ease of use in the direction the products suggest: Landbot reviewers praise the builder, and Botpress reviewers divide. They also disagree on value, with Botpress reviewers on Capterra scoring Value for Money at 4.4 even though its price list is the higher one; the data does not say why, and the Capterra pool is only 37 reviews. Aggregators describe satisfied users, not buyers who left, so treat both pools as a ceiling.

FAQ

Is Botpress better than Landbot?

Overall Botpress scores higher (81 against 72, or 79.96 against 72.29 on the recomputed weights) because it leads on AI quality, integrations, compliance, channels and developer experience. "Better" depends on who builds the bot. For a no-code team that wants a lead-capture or FAQ bot on its website, Landbot is easier and cheaper. For engineers building an agent that calls tools and APIs, Botpress is the stronger platform.

Is Botpress better than Landbot for AI agents and LLM-powered support bots?

Yes on capability. Botpress has an Autonomous Node, a vector knowledge base exposed as a tool, MCP in both directions, six LLM providers in the reviewed workspace and per-call cost reporting. Landbot has an AI Agent block with a role, constraints and steps scaffold, OpenAI and Gemini connections and RAG over uploaded files, but retrieval and citation behavior is thinly documented. Both scenario D figures are labeled protocol figures of undetermined class, so run your own questions against a trial of each.

Landbot or Botpress for ease of use?

Landbot. Its canvas scores 88 on bot-building against Botpress at 78 and its Capterra Ease of Use is 4.5 against 4.1. Botpress's "AI just works" onboarding removes provider setup, and its G2 reviewers praise ease of use too, but they also report a learning curve once you reach hooks, actions and production logic.

Which is cheaper, Botpress or Landbot?

Landbot, at every volume below about 1,350 monthly conversations. A first paid Landbot plan is $45 for 500 chats and Professional is $110 for 2,500; the first Botpress paid plan is $189 for 250 conversations. Above roughly 1,350 conversations a month, Botpress Team at $939 is a flat bill with 1,500 conversations and AI usage included, but it is still more than Landbot Professional WA at $220 for 2,500 chats if the units are comparable, which they may not be.

What is the total cost of ownership for a small business?

For a website bot at 400 conversations a month we compute about $50 a month on Landbot Starter and $319 on Botpress Plus with two top-up packs. For a WhatsApp plus website bot at 1,200 conversations, about $220 on Landbot Professional WA against $839 on Botpress Plus with ten packs, before Meta's fees. These use the published rates; Botpress's WhatsApp markup on Meta fees is not recorded in its review.

Botpress or Landbot for WhatsApp?

Neither is a WhatsApp specialist. Botpress unlocks WhatsApp from Plus at $189; Landbot needs Professional WA at $220. Both use the official API, Botpress's review says it is not Meta BSP-certified, and Landbot's cites a 1-2 week onboarding. Purpose-built tools are cheaper per feature; see best WhatsApp chatbots and the WhatsApp chatbot guide.

Which one is better for a lead generation chatbot?

Landbot for most small teams. It includes lead-scoring and A/B test blocks, native HubSpot and Shopify connectors, and a free website bot. Botpress suits lead generation only where the qualification logic needs code, custom tools or a CRM that has no Landbot connector. See lead qualification playbook.

Do Botpress and Landbot both have MCP and bring-your-own-LLM?

Botpress has MCP; Landbot does not document it. For your own LLM, Botpress's SDK docs say it is available on Enterprise plans, and its Plus and Team tiers route through its AI Spend model with a choice of listed providers. Landbot connects OpenAI and Gemini. See BYOLLM and best BYOLLM chatbots.

Should I switch from Landbot to Botpress, or the other way round?

The trade is a loss of simplicity for a gain in power, or the reverse. Landbot to Botpress: you gain MCP, a code workflow, more channels and integrations, and flat volume pricing above 1,350 conversations; you lose the canvas craft, the free website tier and the low entry price. Botpress to Landbot: you gain a cheaper start, a simpler canvas and native CRM connectors; you lose MCP, Slack, Teams and Discord channels and the SDK. Rebuild flows rather than expect an import, and run both in parallel for a week; the migration playbook lists the steps.

Does Chatbotscape earn commissions on Botpress and Landbot sign-ups? (Editorial transparency)

Yes for both, per our standard affiliate disclosure. Affiliate revenue does not influence editorial scoring: scores are locked to the published rubric before any commercial relationship is evaluated, and the nine-point headline gap was set in the two reviews, not for this page.
