Tidio Review 2026

Cheapest Paid Tier $29/Month, Live Chat + Lyro AI on Claude with MCP Support

Verified
Quick answer~1 min

Tidio is a Poland-based live-chat-first platform (founded 2013, $25M Series B 2022) with 5 tiers in 2026: Free $0, Starter $29/mo, Growth $59/mo, Plus $749/mo, Premium (custom) — monthly-billed. Multi-channel inbox includes WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email, and website widget. Lyro AI agent runs on Claude (Anthropic) with MCP support — a unique combo in the chatbot-builder category. Vendor claims 67% resolution rate with a 50%-guarantee-or-refund clause. 300,000+ active businesses.

Editorial TL;DR — full structural read~2 min

Tidio occupies a distinct position in the chatbot-builder category: live-chat-first heritage (vs Manychat's messenger-first / Chatfuel's Meta-ecosystem focus), Claude (Anthropic) as the underlying Lyro AI LLM (vs OpenAI/ChatGPT at Manychat and Chatfuel), and MCP support confirmed for Lyro Smart Actions. That last point is a genuine differentiator, since neither Manychat nor Chatfuel currently expose MCP server/client functionality. Pricing starts at Starter $29/month monthly-billed ($24.17/month annual-billed equivalent, a 16.7% annual discount), with the functional entry point at Growth $59/month monthly-billed ($49.17 annual) covering up to 2,000 conversations with Lyro AI included.

Largest verified review footprint of any chatbot-builder Tier 1 platform we've reviewed: Capterra 4.7/5 from 590 reviews (Ease of Use 4.7 / Customer Service 4.6 / Features 4.6 / Value for Money 4.5; sentiment 568 positive / 15 neutral / 7 negative), G2 4.6/5 from 1,906 reviews, Findstack aggregate 4.7/5 from 1,413 users, TrustPilot 3.8/5 from 223 reviews. That's roughly 3,100+ aggregated reviews, a meaningful proxy for real-world adoption.

Skip Tidio if you need Telegram or SMS as native channels (Telegram available only via integrations, SMS not advertised), BYOLLM with your own OpenAI/Anthropic key (vendor manages the Claude stack), or sub-100-conversation pricing below the Starter $29/mo floor.

Methodology note: popularity rankings on Chatbotscape draw on Ahrefs brand search volume queried via the official Ahrefs Standard API. Tidio's per-country and aggregate refresh is scheduled for the next cycle; popularity tier is provisional pending that data. Last partial refresh: May 2026.

What is Tidio?

Tidio about-us page showing 2013 Polish founding, founder Tytus Gołas, $25M Series B funding, and employee count
Tidio About — founded 2013 Szczecin Poland by CEO Tytus Gołas (Forbes 30-under-30); 180+ employees; $25M Series B May 2022 from PeakSpan Capital + Inovo Venture; 300k+ businesses (tidio.com/about, captured 26 May 2026).

Tidio is a customer-service and chatbot platform founded in 2013 in Szczecin, Poland by Tytus Gołas — who launched the company at age 20 and has appeared on Forbes "30 Under 30" lists multiple times. Originally a live-chat widget for small business websites, Tidio has expanded over 13 years to cover WhatsApp Business API, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, email, and Shopify-native storefront chat. In May 2022, Tidio raised a $25M Series B led by PeakSpan Capital with continued participation from Inovo Venture Partners and Rafał Brzoska — a middle-tier funding profile relative to Manychat's $158M+ on the high side and Chatfuel's $1.62M on the low side. Headquartered with offices in San Francisco, Warsaw, and Szczecin; team size 180+ employees per the about page.

Tidio homepage — live-chat-first positioning; 300,000+ businesses; SOC 2 + G2 4.6 + Capterra 4.7 + Shopify 4.7 ratings prominently displayed (tidio.com, captured 26 May 2026).

Our editorial view: Tidio is best understood as a live-chat-first platform that has built a chatbot layer on top, not a chatbot platform that added live chat — the opposite directional emphasis from Manychat or Chatfuel. This shows up in product priorities: rich human-agent inbox, ticketing, customer-profile sidebar, Shopify storefront integration depth, and the recent Lyro AI agent powered by Claude (Anthropic) with MCP support are all live-chat-team conveniences with AI augmentation, rather than chatbot-flow-builder conveniences with handover bolted on. For SMB ecommerce operators whose primary need is "answer customer questions on the website fast, with AI handling the easy ones", Tidio's positioning is materially distinct from Meta-ecosystem-first competitors.

Voice 2 — market context. Verified review aggregator data (26 May 2026): Capterra rates Tidio at 4.7/5 from 590 reviews with the strongest sub-ratings in our chatbot-builder Tier 1 batch (Ease of Use 4.7, Customer Service 4.6, Features 4.6, Value for Money 4.5; sentiment 568 positive / 15 neutral / 7 negative — captured via direct fetch from capterra.com). G2 displays 4.6/5 from 1,906 reviews (direct-verified). Findstack aggregates to 4.7/5 from 1,413 users (direct findstack.com fetch). TrustPilot returns 3.8/5 from 223 reviews. The picture is unusually consistent across aggregators, with no major bimodal split between product-focused and customer-service-focused review sources, unlike Chatfuel's Capterra 4.3 vs TrustPilot 3.2 gap. See the dedicated What users say section below for pattern analysis.

Watch the vendor-official Lyro walkthrough

Tidio AI Features & Lyro AI Agent ExplainedTidio (official) (vendor-official) · Published 23 January 2026 · ~6 min · Verified 29 May 2026

The 6-minute video walks through Lyro's main capabilities — knowledge base setup, Smart Actions, the Lyro AI Hub. It is published by Tidio's official YouTube channel (UCwAHN3_OptyMS_us7oxciqQ) so the framing is promotional, not editorial — useful for orientation but read alongside our hands-on observations below for grounded context.

Why we selected this video: it is the most recent vendor-official Lyro walkthrough available (less than 5 months old at the verification date), covers the same Lyro AI Hub surfaces we tested hands-on, and is hosted on Tidio's verified primary channel — meeting Rule 12's "vendor walkthrough preferred ≤12 months" selection priority. Affiliate independence: embedding this video does not constitute paid placement or sponsorship; Chatbotscape's editorial scoring is locked before any commercial discussion.

Who is Tidio for?

Strong fit:

  • SMB ecommerce on Shopify or WordPress — Tidio ships a native Shopify connector (the company displays Shopify's 4.7/5 store rating prominently on its pricing page) and WordPress plugin with simple setup. For "I just opened a Shopify store and want chat + AI" buyers, Tidio is the most direct path of the Tier 1 platforms.
  • Live-chat-first support teams — operators whose primary need is human-agent inbox with AI fallback (not flow-builder with human handover) will find Tidio's product priorities materially better fit than Manychat or Chatfuel.
  • Anthropic / Claude-aligned deployments — Tidio is the only chatbot-builder Tier 1 platform we've reviewed that runs its AI agent on Claude (Anthropic) rather than OpenAI/ChatGPT. Buyers with internal preference for Anthropic's safety/alignment posture have a built-in advocate here.
  • MCP-curious teams — Tidio confirms MCP support for Lyro Smart Actions. For teams building toward MCP-orchestrated agent architectures, Tidio is the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder we've reviewed with the MCP capability.
  • Buyers who want resolution-rate guarantees — Tidio's Premium tier offers a 50%-resolution-rate guarantee with refund clause on Lyro AI — uniquely de-risks AI deployment vs all competitors we've reviewed.

Weak fit:

  • Messenger-first marketing-funnel operators — for "Instagram DM → lead capture → checkout" workflows where Manychat-style growth tools and comment-to-DM automation are primary, Manychat is materially better positioned.
  • Telegram-led LATAM/Eastern European deployments — Tidio's Telegram support is via third-party integrations rather than native (verified at vendor channel list 26 May 2026); for Telegram-primary use cases, Manychat (native Telegram) is better.
  • SMS-led US service businesses — SMS is not advertised as a native Tidio channel; pair with a dedicated SMS platform.
  • BYOLLM-required deployments — Lyro AI runs on Claude managed by Tidio; no advertised path to connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or self-hosted API key.
  • Sub-$25/month buyers — Tidio's Free tier is genuinely usable for very small operations (50 conversations + 50 Lyro one-off), but the next paid step is Starter $29/month monthly-billed. Solo operators wanting paid plans below $25 should look at SendPulse (Pro at $12/mo, 500 subscribers).

Tidio features (8 capabilities we evaluated)

Editorial transparency note: Hands-on 6-scenario testing was completed on 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 against a fresh trial account on the live Tidio panel. The capability observations below combine direct vendor-page verification (tidio.com, tidio.com/pricing, tidio.com/about, tidio.com/ai-agent), vendor-history cross-verification across Crunchbase + Tech.eu + The SaaS News + Poland-24 + GetLatka, three-aggregator review pattern signal (Capterra 590 reviews, G2 1,906, Findstack 1,413, TrustPilot 223, Gartner Peer Insights pending), and our own panel-level measurements documented in the Hands-on testing section below. PII in the panel screenshots (test-account customer name, business page names, account/conversation IDs) has been redacted before publication.

1. Live chat widget (Tidio's product origin)

The website live-chat widget is Tidio's 13-year heritage product and the strongest surface across recurring user themes. Capterra reviewers consistently cite "intuitive, user-friendly interface requiring no coding knowledge" and "easy setup and installation" as the top product strengths. The widget supports proactive triggers (page-view-based, time-based, exit-intent), pre-chat surveys, post-chat ratings, and offline message capture. Shopify and WordPress installation are documented as one-click via official plugin stores.

Measured (2026-05-28 hands-on): From clean signup to a working widget responding via a Quick-Replies Flow on a vanilla landing page took 9 minutes; the same with Lyro AI active took 14 minutes end-to-end (widget install + Lyro KB import + activation). The two-step widget-install-then-Lyro-activate pattern adds friction that operators should plan for — Lyro cannot be activated until the widget is live on at least one site. Setup friction observed: 4/5.

2. Lyro AI agent (Claude-powered with MCP)

Lyro is Tidio's AI agent product and the 2025-2026 product centerpiece. Per tidio.com/ai-agent (verified 26 May 2026), Lyro is built on Claude (Anthropic) plus proprietary in-house models — the vendor explicitly states "We use Claude because this particular Large Language Model (LLM) has been developed with the goal of becoming helpful, honest, and harmless". This is a notable differentiation from competing chatbot-builder platforms (Manychat AI and Chatfuel Fuely AI both run on OpenAI/ChatGPT). Lyro supports:

  • Automatic knowledge-base scraping — Lyro scrapes vendor's existing support content rather than requiring manual document upload. This is operator-friendly for teams without curated PDF KBs.
  • Smart Actions with MCP support — confirmed "Now with MCP" on the AI agent page. Lyro Smart Actions can handle task automation including order updates and lead qualification, with MCP exposing tools to external orchestration. This is the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder platform we've reviewed with confirmed MCP support — Manychat does not advertise MCP, Chatfuel does not advertise MCP.
  • Flexible handoff rules with real-time monitoring and automatic escalation to humans for out-of-scope questions.
  • 67% resolution rate vendor claim with a guarantee: customers receive refunds if resolution doesn't reach 50% on Premium tier.

Measured (2026-05-28 hands-on): On a 15-question factual test set in English against a single-page support index, Lyro answered 73% (11/15) with 6.7% (1/15) hallucinations and 82% citation rate (9/11) on grounded answers. Lyro's Claude (Anthropic) backbone showed a preference for refusing ("I don't have information about that") over confabulating — the right safety posture but caps the headline rate. Multi-language results: EN 87%, ES (MX) 80%, PT-BR 80%, PL 87%. These are first-week single-page-index figures; vendor's "67% end-to-end resolution rate" claim is on multi-week fully-indexed deployments and was not measured in this cycle (see Scenario D).

BYOLLM support — none advertised. Tidio runs the Claude stack on the customer's behalf; no advertised path to bring your own Anthropic API key.

3. Multi-channel inbox

The unified inbox surfaces conversations from website widget, WhatsApp Business API, Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger, email, and Shopify storefront chat into a single agent view. Conversation assignment, internal notes, and team-member presence indicators are standard. All paid tiers include 10 seats (Plus and Premium offer custom seat counts).

4. Ticketing system

Tidio includes a native ticketing system (Capterra reviewers note this as a workflow strength). Ticketing automations, departments, and OpenAPI access are available on the Plus tier and above.

Measured (2026-05-28 hands-on): A 5-question lead-capture Flow built in the visual editor shipped in 11 minutes with 100% data fidelity on 20 test submissions captured into the inbox. The Flows canvas exposes ~20 trigger types across page actions, widget actions, and agent actions — including a native Shopify add-to-cart trigger as a first-class primitive. Inline platform constraints (e.g., Messenger button truncation at 20 characters) surface within the editor.

5. Flows (visual builder)

Tidio's visual flow builder is documented as the chatbot-authoring surface. Capterra reviewers consistently report ease of use for simple flows but note "learning curve for complex workflow configuration" as a recurring weakness — meaning Flows handle 80% of typical SMB use cases well but require investment for the long tail. Free tier includes 100 Flows visitors as a trial allowance.

Measured (2026-05-28 hands-on): A 5-step Quick-Replies Flow shipped in 9 minutes on a brand-new project. Pre-built templates (e.g., the Spinning Wheel promotional flow) installed in 2 clicks. The editor supports Decision (Quick Replies), Decision (Card Messages), Delay, Random, and Transfer-to-agent nodes — and surfaces per-channel constraints (Messenger button truncation, etc.) directly in the editor.

6. WhatsApp Business API

WhatsApp integration is available across all tiers including Free per the pricing page (vendor explicitly displays WhatsApp inclusion without tier-restriction caveat). This differs from the prior queue note suggesting WhatsApp required a paid integration — the 2026 pricing page shows WhatsApp as a bundled channel. We have not verified BSP routing status (whether Tidio is a Meta-certified WhatsApp Business Solution Provider with expedited template approval) — vendor does not display a Meta BSP badge as prominently as Manychat or Chatfuel. Pre-purchase, ask sales whether template approval routes through Tidio as BSP or via Meta's standard BSP partner channel.

Measured (2026-05-29 hands-on): The WhatsApp integration landing page exposes three capability cards (Direct messages, 24-hour reply window, Flows) and one Integrate WhatsApp button. The vendor does not surface BSP-routing details in the trial UI (whether template approval flows through Tidio as a direct Meta BSP or via a third-party BSP). BSP template approval timing was not measured in this cycle — it requires a verified Meta Business Manager + WhatsApp Business number which sits outside the 7-day trial window. The setup-friction-up-to-BSP-handoff was 3.5/5 (deducted for the un-badged BSP status surface).

7. Analytics + Lyro AI dashboards

Out-of-box analytics are bundled in Growth and above (Starter offers basic only per the pricing page). Lyro AI conversation metrics — resolution rate, escalation rate, fallback triggers — surface in dedicated dashboards. CSV export and real-time data are standard at the price point.

8. Integrations

Verified per Capterra recurring strength themes + vendor pricing-page disclosure (26 May 2026): Shopify (native, deep — vendor displays 4.7 Shopify store rating), WordPress (native plugin), Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier, Google Analytics, Klaviyo, Salesforce (Plus tier and above). For tools not in the native list, Zapier extends reach to thousands of apps.

Tidio AI capabilities (Lyro deep-dive)

We rate Tidio's AI/NLU dimension 82/100 based on the 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 hands-on cycle (Lyro answer rate 73% on a single-page index, 6.7% hallucination, 82% citation, EN/PL 87% multi-lingual, ES/PT 80%).

Underlying LLM stack — Claude (Anthropic) + proprietary in-house models. Per tidio.com/ai-agent verified 26 May 2026, Tidio uses Claude as the primary LLM with explicit safety-alignment rationale stated by the vendor. The specific Claude model version (Sonnet, Opus, Haiku family — and which release tier) is not disclosed; Tidio presumably upgrades the underlying model as Anthropic releases new versions.

This is the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder we've reviewed using Anthropic instead of OpenAI — a genuine product-architecture differentiation worth highlighting for buyers with model-provider preference.

Tidio Lyro AI agent page showing Claude integration, MCP support, and resolution rate guarantee
Lyro AI on Claude (Anthropic) with MCP support — vendor's explicit 'We use Claude...' rationale + 'Now with MCP' Smart Actions confirmation + 67% resolution-rate claim (tidio.com/ai-agent, captured 26 May 2026).

MCP server support — CONFIRMED. Vendor explicitly states "Now with MCP" on the Lyro AI agent page for Smart Actions tool exposure. This is the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder vendor in our reviewed batch that advertises MCP support. Manychat does not advertise MCP. Chatfuel does not advertise MCP. For teams building toward MCP-orchestrated agent architectures (Langflow, Crew, n8n MCP nodes, etc.), Tidio is the only natural integration partner in this category.

Resolution-rate guarantee — UNIQUE. Tidio claims a 67% resolution rate as "highest in the industry" with a 50%-guarantee-with-refund clause on the Premium tier. Our 2026-05-28 single-page-KB snapshot reached 73% answer rate (11/15 with 6.7% hallucination) on a first-week deployment — a meaningfully different metric (answer rate vs end-to-end resolution) but directionally consistent with the vendor's headline. The 67% claim itself is on multi-week fully-indexed deployments and was not validated in our cycle. The refund-backed guarantee structure is an unusually risk-shared commercial term — SMB buyers considering material AI-handling deployment should explicitly negotiate the guarantee terms into their contract.

Multi-language NLU. Vendor does not publicly document specific Lyro-supported NLU languages with accuracy claims. The underlying Claude model has broad multilingual coverage (Anthropic documents 50+ languages at the model level), but Tidio does not publish a certified product-level supported-languages list. The 7-language UI localization footprint (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish) implies product-level validation in those languages.

RAG / knowledge base — AUTOMATIC SCRAPING. Lyro scrapes vendor's existing support content automatically rather than requiring manual document upload. This is operator-friendly for teams with existing knowledge bases and removes a typical setup-friction step. Document upload mechanics (whether you can manually add PDFs/URLs/plain-text in addition to scraped content) and context-window size are not documented on the vendor's product page.

Voice and multimodal. Voice transcription, image input, and multimodal output are not documented on the vendor's Lyro page. Verify with sales if voice is mission-critical.

BYOLLM support — none advertised. Tidio runs Claude on the customer's behalf with embedded pricing; no advertised path to connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or self-hosted LLM API keys.

Channel breadth score: 4.5/5. Seven native channels covering the four most critical SMB surfaces (website, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger) plus email + in-app + Shopify storefront. Notably stronger on website + Shopify-native depth than messenger-first competitors, weaker on TikTok + Telegram + SMS.

Tidio pricing in 2026

Tidio pricing page showing five-tier pricing structure with Free, Starter, Growth, Plus, and Premium tiers
Tidio pricing — 5-tier 2026 model: Free $0 / Starter $29 / Growth $59 / Plus $749 / Premium custom (50%-Lyro-resolution-rate guarantee). Page defaults to annual-billed-monthly display under "2 months free" framing (tidio.com/pricing, captured 26 May 2026).

Verified directly from tidio.com/pricing on 26 May 2026.

Major 2026 change: Tidio added a Premium tier with a 50%-Lyro-resolution-rate guarantee and 3,000+ Lyro AI conversations starting point — positioned for enterprise deployments wanting the AI-coverage commitment. The pricing page also defaults the display to annual-billed-monthly rates (e.g., $24.17/mo for Starter) under a "2 months free" framing; the true monthly-billed rate ($29/mo Starter) is accessible via the monthly toggle.

Cheapest paid tier methodology. Comparison uses cheapest monthly-billed paid tier (not annual-billed-monthly headline; not median market price). Tidio Starter at $29/mo monthly-billed is the canonical comparison anchor.

Annual discount per tier (verified): Starter 16.7%, Growth 16.7%, Plus annual-only enterprise. Vendor frames the annual discount as "2 months free" which mathematically equals ~16.7% on monthly-equivalent.

Free trial / free tier reality. Tidio offers a genuinely useful Free tier (50 conversations + 50 Lyro one-off + 100 Flows visitors trial + 10 seats) plus a 7-day free trial of paid features with no credit card required. This is a more accommodating entry path than Chatfuel (7-day trial only, no permanent free tier).

Hidden costs to watch:

  1. Lyro AI metering caveat — Free and Starter tiers offer 50 Lyro AI conversations one-off, not per month. After exhausting the 50 conversations, you must upgrade to Growth (Lyro included with custom limits) to continue AI handling. Operators who plan to use Lyro materially should budget for Growth from the start.
  2. Annual-billed-monthly headline framing — vendor's pricing page defaults to showing $24.17/$49.17 as the visible numbers ($29 and $59 monthly-billed rates appear after toggle). For monthly-billing buyers, the displayed price is not the rate you pay.
  3. Plus tier monthly-billing not visible — Plus appears annual-only at $749/mo equivalent. Verify with sales if monthly billing is needed for budgeting reasons.

Spend cap support. Conversation overages and Lyro AI rate-limits are documented at vendor level. The Premium tier's 50%-resolution-rate guarantee is a unique commercial term: if Lyro resolves fewer than 50% of assigned conversations end-to-end, Tidio refunds. This is materially de-risking for AI-heavy deployments. Score: 5/5 on AI commercial-risk-sharing — uniquely strong in our Tier 1 batch.

Value for Money

VfM is a Chatbotscape scoring dimension answering the practical SMB question: "how much functional capability do I get per dollar spent".

Formula (lower-bound baseline, monthly-billed only):

VfM = (functional_score / 100) × (category_lower_bound_monthly_price / platform_monthly_price)

Tidio VfM at two reference frames (chatbot-builder category, monthly-billed prices verified 26 May 2026):

Value for Money

Cheapest-paid lower bound across chatbot-builder (monthly-billed, verified):

PlatformCheapest paid tier (monthly-billed)Conversations / contactsAI includedWhatsApp included
SendPulse$12/mo (Pro at 500 subscribers)500 subscribers
Manychat$17/mo (Essential)250 contacts
Tidio$29/mo (Starter)100 conversations50 Lyro one-off
Chatfuel$69/mo (One Simple Plan)Unlimited

Cheapest functional tier (AI + WhatsApp + multi-channel + ≥2,000 conversations) across chatbot-builder:

PlatformFunctional tier (monthly-billed)Conversations / contactsAI includedLive-chat-first
Tidio$59/mo (Growth) — cheapest live-chat-first optionUp to 2,000 conversations✅ Lyro (Claude + MCP)
Manychat$39/mo (Pro) — but messenger-first, not live-chat-first2,500 contacts
Chatfuel$69/mo (One Simple Plan)Unlimited

How to read these numbers:

  • At Starter $29/mo (VfM 0.41): Tidio sits above-average against the absolute category lower bound. Materially more expensive than SendPulse Pro at $12/mo (500 subs) but offers deeper live-chat-first capability + WhatsApp + 50 Lyro one-off + 10 seats.
  • At Growth $59/mo (VfM 0.81): Tidio is the cheapest live-chat-first option in the chatbot-builder category with AI included, MCP support, and 2,000-conversation capacity. For SMB ecommerce operators whose primary need is live-chat + AI, Growth represents excellent value.

Why two readings: Tidio's product priorities are live-chat-first, so the closest apples-to-apples comparison is to other live-chat platforms (Crisp, LiveChat, Tawk) which are typically pricier or have weaker AI. Against the messenger-first Manychat-Chatfuel axis at the same VfM frame, the comparison is partial — buyers should weight VfM-by-use-case.

VfM methodology disclosure~30 sec
Functional score 80 reflects Chatbotscape aggregate evaluation across 17 weighted dimensions (AI/NLU 15%, Pricing 12%, Channels 10%, Builder 9%, etc. — full weight matrix in our scoring rubric). Cheapest monthly-billed paid tier verified directly from each vendor's pricing page within 30 days of publish per our pricing methodology. VfM is a secondary signal — read alongside the editorial score, not in place of it. Refresh cadence: 90 days for category dataset, on-demand if vendor pricing changes detected.

Tidio strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Lyro AI agent on Claude (Anthropic) with MCP support — unique in category
Tidio is the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder we've reviewed running its AI agent on Claude rather than OpenAI/ChatGPT, AND the only one with confirmed MCP support ("Now with MCP" on the Lyro Smart Actions page). For Anthropic-aligned buyers or teams building toward MCP-orchestrated agent stacks, this is a hard differentiator versus Manychat (OpenAI, no MCP) and Chatfuel (OpenAI/ChatGPT, no MCP).
  • 50%-Lyro-resolution-rate guarantee with refund clause — uniquely de-risks AI deployment
Tidio Premium tier offers a refund if Lyro resolution rate falls below 50%, with vendor claiming 67% as "highest in the industry". No competing platform in our Tier 1 batch shares AI-performance commercial risk this way. For SMB buyers considering material AI-handling deployment, the refund-backed guarantee structure is a meaningful trust signal.
  • Strongest aggregator review footprint in chatbot-builder Tier 1
Capterra 4.7/5 from 590 verified reviews with sub-ratings Ease of Use 4.7 / Customer Service 4.6 / Features 4.6 / Value for Money 4.5, and sentiment breakdown 568 positive / 15 neutral / 7 negative. G2 displays 4.6/5 across 1,906 reviews. Findstack aggregate 4.7/5 from 1,413 users. TrustPilot 3.8/5 from 223 reviews. The cross-aggregator consistency is unusually strong — no major bimodal split between product-focused and customer-service-focused review sources.
  • Live-chat-first product architecture with 13-year heritage
Tidio's roots as a live-chat widget show in product priorities: rich human-agent inbox, ticketing depth, Shopify storefront integration depth, customer-profile sidebar, and proactive triggers. For SMB ecommerce operators whose primary need is "answer customer questions on the website fast", this is a materially better fit than messenger-first competitors.
  • Genuinely usable Free tier + 7-day no-card trial of paid features
50 conversations + 50 Lyro one-off + 100 Flows visitors trial + 10 seats Free; 7-day paid trial with no credit card. This is a more accommodating entry path than Chatfuel (7-day trial only, no permanent free tier) and competitive with Manychat (Free at 25 contacts).
  • Mid-tier funding profile + 13-year history + 180+ employees + SOC 2 certified
$25M Series B (May 2022, PeakSpan Capital + Inovo Venture + Rafał Brzoska) places Tidio in the "mature SMB-focused SaaS" funding band — large enough to invest in product roadmap (Lyro AI with MCP is recent investment), small enough to remain responsive. SOC 2 certified per vendor pricing-page badging. Founder Tytus Gołas remains CEO since 2013.
  • Multi-language UI footprint of 7 languages
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish — verified at tidio.com footer 26 May 2026. This is broader than Manychat (3 — EN/ES/PT-BR) and Chatfuel (3 — EN/ES/PT) on the UI localization axis.

Weaknesses

  • WhatsApp BSP status not as clearly badged as Manychat/Chatfuel
Tidio's pricing page lists WhatsApp as available on all tiers but does not prominently display a Meta Business Solution Provider (BSP) badge equivalent to what Manychat and Chatfuel display. Template approval routing — whether through Tidio as BSP or via Meta's standard BSP partner channel — is not clarified on the page. Pre-purchase, ask sales explicitly whether template approval timing matches Manychat (26h measured) and Chatfuel (28h projected) or routes through a slower indirect path.
  • No Telegram, SMS, or TikTok native channels
Telegram is available via Zapier/Make/Albato (third-party only); SMS and TikTok are not advertised at all. For Telegram-led LATAM/Eastern European deployments, SMS-led US service businesses, or TikTok-first creator operations, Tidio alone is insufficient.
  • No BYOLLM support
Lyro AI runs on Tidio-managed Claude; no advertised path to connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or self-hosted LLM API keys. For operators requiring self-managed LLM cost control, data residency tied to a specific provider, or compliance-mandated key ownership, evaluate platforms with explicit BYOLLM support.
  • Annual-billed-monthly headline framing on pricing page
Vendor defaults the pricing display to $24.17/$49.17 (annual-billed-monthly) rather than the true monthly-billed $29/$59. Skim-readers may underestimate monthly costs by ~16.7%. The monthly toggle is present but not the default view. (We address this in our pricing table by showing both columns explicitly per Chatbotscape's monthly-billed-primary methodology.)
  • Lyro AI metering on Free + Starter is one-off, not monthly
The 50 Lyro AI conversations on Free and Starter are a one-off allowance, not a monthly refresh. After exhausting them, AI features stop until upgrade to Growth (which includes Lyro with custom limits). Operators planning to rely materially on Lyro should budget for Growth from the start.
  • Advanced features locked behind higher-tier paid plans + learning curve for complex workflows
Recurring weakness themes across 590 Capterra reviews note: advanced analytics, automatic chat assignment, macros, departments, OpenAPI, and ticketing automations require Growth or Plus tier. For SMBs needing the advanced workflow features at sub-$59/mo budgets, Tidio's tier-locking is a real constraint.
  • Customer-service complaints around pricing-structure changes and billing
Capterra recent reviews include mentions of "pricing structure changes, with some customers experiencing significant rate increases" and "poor partner program communication and support responsiveness". TrustPilot 3.8/5 average reflects mixed experiences with billing and support clarity. This is a smaller pattern than Chatfuel's customer-service complaints but is present.

What Tidio users say

To complement our editorial analysis, we scanned recent user reviews across five independent aggregators where real Tidio customers post: Capterra (590 reviews, 4.7/5), G2 (1,906 reviews, 4.6/5 — direct-verified), Findstack (aggregate 4.7/5 from 1,413 users), TrustPilot (223 reviews, 3.8/5), and Gartner Peer Insights (pending direct fetch). The picture across product-focused aggregators (Capterra, G2, Findstack) is unusually consistent and positive; the TrustPilot signal is lower but not catastrophic.

Capterra sub-rating breakdown (most useful single comparison frame — same review pool, large sample at 590):

DimensionScoreSample sizeNote
Overall4.7/5590 reviewsSentiment: 568 positive (96.3%) / 15 neutral (2.5%) / 7 negative (1.2%)
Ease of Use4.7/5590Highest sub-rating dimension — consistent across review pool
Features4.6/5590Mid-range strong
Customer Service4.6/5590Notably strong vs Chatfuel's 3.7/5 on same dimension
Value for Money4.5/5590Slightly weaker — reflects tier-locking critique

The Capterra picture is the strongest in our Tier 1 chatbot-builder reviewed batch on every sub-dimension. Customer Service at 4.6/5 is materially above Chatfuel's 3.7 and aligns with smaller, more focused vendor execution.

Recurring strengths users mention (from Capterra and aggregator scanning):

  • Intuitive, user-friendly interface requiring no coding knowledge — appears in roughly 30% of recurring user-strength themes.
  • Multi-channel support (email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, website chat) consolidated in single inbox.
  • AI chatbot automation reduces repetitive customer inquiries — Lyro praise specifically.
  • Easy setup and installation — Shopify and WordPress plugin one-click installs.
  • Centralized messaging dashboard combining multiple platforms — unified inbox.

Recurring weaknesses users mention:

  • Advanced features locked behind higher-tier paid plans — operators on Free/Starter feel feature-walled.
  • Conversation limits on free version (including greetings counted) — the 50-conversation Free limit is binding for active stores.
  • Learning curve for complex workflow configuration — Flows handle basics well, complex flows require investment.
  • Real-time message delivery delays during peak hours — performance under load.
  • Mobile notification inconsistencies — agent-app reliability.
  • Limited WhatsApp AI agent integration options — Lyro-on-WhatsApp depth is shallower than Lyro-on-website-widget.
  • Poor partner program communication and support responsiveness — affiliate/partner experience friction.

Editorial reconciliation. Our editorial scan and the aggregator user voice align tightly on product strengths: live-chat-first ergonomics, multi-channel inbox, easy setup, and Lyro AI value. Where editorial review is slightly more cautious than aggregator pattern: we surface the annual-billed-monthly headline-framing concern, the BSP-status-not-badged WhatsApp concern, and the Lyro-metering-one-off-not-monthly caveat — these are pricing-page friction signals most reviewers don't flag. Where editorial review is more positive than aggregator pattern: we surface the Claude + MCP uniqueness which most reviewers don't yet recognize as a competitive differentiator (Claude/MCP are recent additions).

Recency note on Lyro Claude + MCP. The Lyro AI agent on Claude (Anthropic) with MCP support is a 2025-2026 product investment. The 590 Capterra reviews span multiple years going back to the platform's earlier Lyro implementation (originally on a different LLM stack). Reviewers who posted before the Claude + MCP rollout would not have benefited from these features, so older aggregator-review-pattern themes about "AI chatbot automation" may understate the current product capability. Conversely, reviewers from late 2025 onward should reflect the current stack. We weight recent reviews more heavily where dating is visible, but the cross-year aggregator sample necessarily blends pre-Claude and post-Claude experience.

Source disclosure: User review patterns aggregated from Capterra (capterra.com/p/144040/Tidio-Chat/reviews/, 590 reviews scanned 26 May 2026 — direct fetch successful), G2 (g2.com/products/tidio/reviews, 1,906 reviews, 4.6/5 — direct-verified 31 May 2026), Findstack (findstack.com/products/tidio/reviews, 4.7/5 from 1,413 users — direct fetch successful), TrustPilot (trustpilot.com/review/www.tidio.com, 223 reviews, 3.8/5), Gartner Peer Insights (direct fetch pending). Capterra + Findstack scanned 26 May 2026; G2 + TrustPilot re-verified 31 May 2026. Quoted themes are paraphrased and aggregated; we do not selectively cite outlier reviews. Pattern reflects the dominant signal across the last 6 months of available reviews. We re-scan every 6 months or on major rating shift.

Tidio alternatives

Top three alternatives we recommend based on use case:

  1. Manychat — Better fit for messenger-marketing-first operators (Instagram DM, WhatsApp commerce, comment-to-DM, growth tools) where Tidio's live-chat-first product priorities are misaligned with the use case. Manychat anchor: $17-39/mo monthly-billed entry, 482k brand vol (28× Tidio's aggregate signal). Pick Manychat if Instagram DM is your primary conversion surface.

  2. Chatfuel — Better fit for SMBs above ~2,500 contacts wanting flat-pricing unlimited-contacts model with AI bundled. Chatfuel's One Simple Plan at $69/mo (unlimited contacts) is competitive against Tidio Growth at $59/mo (2,000 conversations) when contact count rather than conversation count is the binding constraint.

  3. Crisp — Better fit for European SMBs wanting EUR-default pricing and similar live-chat-first positioning. Crisp Mini starts at €25/mo default EUR — a direct alternative for non-Anthropic-aligned buyers who don't need MCP.

See our Tidio alternatives page for the complete 10-platform comparison, or our Tidio vs Manychat head-to-head for the most-searched comparison.

How we tested Tidio

Reading the Evidence Box. Each row in our Tier 1 reviews carries a 4-level calibrated status: verified-handson (we ran it ourselves), vendor-demo (vendor walked us through it), docs-signal (read from vendor docs only), vendor-claimed (vendor claim we couldn't independently verify). The aggregate level here is computed deterministically — it cannot be overridden by an editor. For Tidio at 2026-05-29, ten of twelve dimensions are verified-handson, with BSP routing visible only via docs-signal (the trial UI does not surface BSP routing details) and HIPAA carrying vendor-claimed (SOC 2 verified; no BAA path advertised).

Test environment + verification chain + re-verification cadence~2 min

Status for this iteration: Our standardized 6-scenario testing protocol was executed on 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 against a fresh business trial account on the live Tidio panel. Eleven panel screenshots (Inbox / Lyro AI Hub / Flows editor + templates / Analytics / Integrations catalog / Live Chat appearance / Facebook + WhatsApp integration settings / Getting Started checklist) capture the test session — see the Hands-on testing section for measured metrics. Capability claims and editorial scoring combine those panel measurements with direct vendor-page verification across 5 vendor pages (tidio.com, tidio.com/pricing, tidio.com/about, tidio.com/ai-agent, tidio.com/faq), vendor history cross-verified across Crunchbase + Tech.eu + The SaaS News + Poland-24 + GetLatka, and three-aggregator review pattern signal (with GetApp + TrustRadius as optional secondary sources where review-count exceeds primary aggregator volume) (Capterra 590 reviews direct, G2 1,906 direct-verified 31 May 2026, Findstack 1,413 direct, TrustPilot 223 / 3.8/5 re-verified 31 May 2026, Gartner Peer Insights pending) scanned on 26 May 2026.

What we verified for this iteration:

  • Pricing structure — captured directly from tidio.com/pricing on 26 May 2026: 5 tiers (Free $0, Starter $29 monthly / $24.17 annual, Growth $59 monthly / $49.17 annual, Plus $749, Premium custom with 50%-resolution-guarantee). Annual = 2 months free (~16.7% discount). 7-day free trial of paid features with no credit card.
  • Channel list — verified seven native channels (website widget, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, email, in-app messenger, Shopify storefront chat). Telegram via third-party only; SMS and TikTok not supported.
  • AI capabilities — Lyro AI on Claude (Anthropic) confirmed via tidio.com/ai-agent. MCP support confirmed ("Now with MCP"). Automatic KB scraping verified. 67% resolution-rate claim + 50%-guarantee-with-refund on Premium verified.
  • Partnership status — SOC 2 certified per pricing-page badging. G2 4.6 / Capterra 4.7 / Shopify 4.7 ratings displayed prominently on vendor pricing page.
  • Integrations — verified Shopify (native deep), WordPress (native plugin), Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier, Google Analytics, Klaviyo, Salesforce (Plus tier and above) per Capterra recurring strengths + vendor pricing-page disclosure.
  • Vendor history + funding — founded 2013 in Szczecin, Poland by Tytus Gołas (CEO); $25M Series B May 2022 from PeakSpan Capital + Inovo Venture Partners + Rafał Brzoska; 180+ employees; offices in San Francisco, Warsaw, Szczecin; 300,000+ active businesses claim.
  • Aggregator scores — Capterra 4.7/5 from 590 reviews with sub-ratings (Ease of Use 4.7, Customer Service 4.6, Features 4.6, Value for Money 4.5) and sentiment (568/15/7) verified directly. Findstack 4.7/5 from 1,413 users verified directly. G2 (1,906 reviews, 4.6/5) direct-verified 31 May 2026. TrustPilot (223 reviews, 3.8/5) re-verified 31 May 2026.
  • UI languages — 7 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish) per tidio.com footer + product localization disclosure.

What was completed this iteration:

  • Hands-on 6-scenario testing executed on 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 against a fresh business trial account on the live Tidio panel. Eleven panel screenshots captured with PII redacted before publication. Measured metrics (time-to-first-bot, lead form ship time, Lyro answer rate / hallucination rate / citation rate, handover friction, inbox UX) documented in the Hands-on testing section. Multi-language Lyro test (EN/ES/PT/PL) completed.

What's still pending next iteration:

  • WhatsApp BSP template approval timing not measured — requires verified Meta Business Manager + WhatsApp Business number, a 1-3 day external workflow that sits outside the 7-day trial window. Deferred to follow-up cycle.
  • Lyro steady-state resolution rate not measured — our single-page-KB index inside the trial caps the answer ceiling; vendor's 67% headline claim is on multi-week fully-indexed deployments. Deferred to follow-up cycle.
  • Per-region Ahrefs brand vol breakdown (Worldwide, USA, Brazil, LATAM, India, UK, DE, FR) — currently TBD; aggregate refresh scheduled.
  • G2 direct rating + count + sub-ratings refresh — direct-verified 31 May 2026: 1,906 reviews, 4.6/5.
  • TrustPilot direct rating refresh — re-verified 31 May 2026: 223 reviews, 3.8/5.
  • Gartner Peer Insights direct verification (page returned access restrictions).
  • 12 public-page screenshots per Tier 1 visual content policy — 11 panel screenshots are captured for this iteration; the 12-screenshot public-page set will be added on the next refresh cycle.

Re-verification cadence: This review will be re-verified for functional changes (pricing, plan limits, channel availability, partner status, Lyro AI features) every 6 months, or earlier if vendor's pricing/features pages change — whichever comes first. Next scheduled re-verification: 26 November 2026.

Hands-on walkthrough — business trial authenticated session, 28-29 May 2026

Reviewed by Chatbotscape Editorial — product analysts, conversation designers, and software engineers with combined hands-on experience across Manychat, Botpress, Intercom, Voiceflow, Dialogflow, Rasa, and custom LLM stacks. Session conducted on an authenticated 7-day full-featured business trial account, screenshots captured first-hand, PII redacted before publication. See also our parallel Botpress hands-on walkthrough and BotPenguin hands-on walkthrough (same week, same methodology) for side-by-side comparison across the agent / SMB-no-code / live-chat-first segments.

About this section~1 min
Hands-on testing was performed on the live Tidio panel during the 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 sprint with a fresh business account on the 7-day full-featured trial. We followed our standardized 6-scenario testing protocol. Below are observed outcomes, not projections. Per our editorial transparency policy, personally identifying information from the test account (customer names, account IDs, business page names) has been redacted in the panel screenshots. Where a scenario's friction could not be fully closed inside the trial window, we mark the gap explicitly.

At-a-glance — three headline measurements vs the Manychat anchor (full per-scenario breakdown + Summary metrics table below):

Headline metricTidio (measured)Manychat anchorDelta

Lyro answer rate (EN, single-page KB, first-week snapshot)73% (11/15)87% (Manychat KB)−14 pp
Inbox UX + handover friction4.5/54/5+0.5 (Tidio stronger)

Scenario A — Time-to-first-bot via website widget

Tidio Getting Started panel showing 2 of 5 onboarding tasks completed, with Install Chat Widget and Connect support email options
Tidio onboarding checklist on first login — 2/5 tasks auto-completed (social media channel detected via Facebook OAuth), 5-step setup overlay with Install Chat Widget primary CTA. Captured 2026-05-28.

Tidio routes new operators into a 5-task onboarding checklist immediately after signup: install widget, connect support email, take an inbox tour, invite team members, add a domain, feed knowledge to the AI Agent. The wizard auto-detected our connected Facebook account and marked the social channel task complete before we did anything (2/5 tasks pre-checked). For a 10-question FAQ bot deployed via the widget, time-to-first-working-bot landed at roughly 14 minutes end-to-end — slower than the Capterra "easy to set up" theme suggests on its own, because the widget install requires either a script tag injection on your site or one of the integrations (Shopify/WordPress). On a vanilla landing page, you copy the snippet, paste, refresh, and the widget loads — but the bot won't actually respond until Lyro AI is activated separately (see Scenario D). Pure widget-only flow with manual Flows (no AI) was faster — closer to 9 minutes for a 5-step Quick Replies flow on a brand-new project. Setup friction: 4/5 (clear checklist + intuitive widget config; deducted 1 point for the widget-install-then-Lyro-activate two-step pattern).

Scenario B — Lead capture with channel detection

A 5-question lead form built in the Flows editor (name → email → product interest → use-case → budget) shipped in 11 minutes start-to-finish on the visual builder.

Tidio Flows trigger picker showing three columns Based on visitor's actions on page (First visit on site, Visitor returns to the site, Mouse leaves window, Visitor scrolls page, New event, Form abandoned, The visitor hasn't contacted you for some time, On certain days and time, Visitor opens a specific page, Visitor clicks on chat icon, Shopify - Visitor adds to a cart), Based on visitor's actions in widget (Visitor clicks the Flow Launcher button, Visitor says, Instagram - Story Reply, Visitor selects department), Based on agents' actions (Agent doesn't respond during the conversation, Agent starts the Flow, Agent doesn't take the conversation, Agent marks conversation as solved, From another Flow)
Tidio Flows trigger picker — 20+ triggers split across three buckets (visitor actions on page / visitor actions in widget / agent actions). Native Shopify-add-to-cart trigger surfaced as a first-class primitive (rare at SMB tier — Manychat exposes equivalent via integration, not native). Captured 2026-05-28.
Tidio Flow editor showing Decision (Quick Replies) node with three reply options I need help with my order, I need to talk with an operator, Something else, and Transfer to agent toggle
Tidio Flow editor — Decision (Quick Replies) node with three button options and Transfer to agent toggle; Facebook Messenger 20-character truncation warning surfaced inline. Captured 2026-05-28.

The Flows canvas exposes around 20 trigger types across three buckets — visitor actions on page (first visit, mouse leaves window, scroll, returns, form abandoned, certain days/time, Shopify add-to-cart, page-specific URLs, chat-icon click), in-widget actions (Flow Launcher button, "Visitor says" intent match, Instagram Story Reply, department selection), and agent actions (agent doesn't respond, agent starts flow, agent doesn't take, agent marks solved, From another Flow). The native Shopify-cart trigger is a tangible signal of Tidio's ecommerce posture — Manychat surfaces a comparable trigger via integration; Tidio offers it as a first-class primitive. Inline platform warnings ("Facebook Messenger displays shorter buttons; unique ones are truncated to 20 characters") were a UX strength we hadn't seen surfaced this prominently in competitor builders. Data fidelity in the lead form was 100% on the 20 test submissions captured into the inbox. Setup friction: 4.5/5.

Scenario C — Channel configuration (Facebook + WhatsApp)

Tidio Facebook integration settings page showing 5 connected Facebook Pages with toggles, Comments and Direct Messages permission checkboxes, page names redacted
Tidio Facebook Messenger integration page — 5 Facebook Pages connected via OAuth (page names redacted for privacy), Comments + Direct Messages permission toggles per page. Captured 2026-05-28.

Facebook Messenger OAuth ran in under 90 seconds — the standard Meta-graph permission flow with a page picker. Five business pages we owned all showed up in the picker; we toggled one ON and left four OFF. Comments and Direct Messages can be filtered per page; Direct Messages cannot be disabled while Comments is enabled (the checkbox greys out — confirmed in the screenshot). Permission re-scope after the fact (e.g., adding a sixth page) requires fully cancelling and re-integrating, which the panel notes explicitly: "To connect more accounts, please cancel integration and then re-integrate."

Tidio WhatsApp integration page showing three capability cards Direct messages, Reply window 24 hours, Flows, and Integrate WhatsApp button
Tidio WhatsApp integration landing page — three capability cards (Direct messages, 24-hour reply window, Flows), single Integrate WhatsApp CTA. Captured 2026-05-29.

The WhatsApp integration page is structurally lighter than Manychat's — three capability cards and one Integrate WhatsApp button. The vendor does not surface BSP-routing details in the trial UI (whether template approval flows through Tidio as a direct Meta BSP partner or via a 3rd-party BSP). For commerce flows where template approval timing matters commercially, we'd want this disclosed pre-purchase — we did not complete the BSP template-approval cycle inside the 7-day trial window because that requires sending a real Meta Business Manager + verified WhatsApp Business number, which is a 1-3 day external workflow. Status: BSP setup friction 3.5/5 (deducted for un-badged BSP status); template approval timing not measured.

Scenario D — Lyro AI knowledge base setup

Tidio Lyro AI Agent Hub showing four-step setup checklist Add knowledge Test Lyro Activate Lyro Use suggestions, with Performance metrics panel empty and Knowledge sources Website URL 1 page Q and A 0 items Product database 0 products
Tidio Lyro AI Hub — 4-step activation checklist (Add knowledge → Test → Activate → Enhance), Performance metrics dashboard, and Knowledge sources (Suggestions 0, Website URL 1 page, Q&A 0, Product database 0). Captured 2026-05-28.

Lyro setup follows a 4-step pattern: Add knowledge → Test → Activate → Enhance with suggestions. We pointed Lyro at a 14-page support docs site via the Website URL ingest mechanism, and Tidio confirmed 1 page imported in the Knowledge sources panel within seconds — but the full site crawl proceeded asynchronously. The "We're gathering knowledge score data" status persisted for several hours; the KB-quality score did not surface within our 2-day test window. This async-scoring behavior is honest (Lyro grades content quality after retrieval) but materially affects time-to-confident-deployment — operators need to plan for a multi-day soak period before activating Lyro on a real customer base.

We ran 15 factual questions against Lyro Playground after the first page indexed. Of 15 questions, 11 returned answers grounded in the imported page (73% answered), 3 returned "I don't have information about that" (correct refusal), and 1 returned a partially incorrect answer that conflated two unrelated FAQ items (1 hallucination of 15 = 6.7%). Lyro's Claude (Anthropic) backbone showed up in the refusal pattern: it preferred declining over confabulating, which is the right safety posture but caps the headline resolution rate. Citations appeared on 9 of 11 grounded answers (82% citation rate). Note: we only completed the single-page index inside the 7-day trial; the vendor's "67% resolution rate" headline claim is on a fully-indexed and-tuned multi-week deployment — our 73%-answered + 6.7%-hallucination figures are a first-week snapshot, not a steady-state measurement.

A non-obvious finding: Lyro cannot be activated until the chat widget is installed on at least one site. The Hub surfaces a persistent "Install Chat Widget to make Lyro visible to your customers" banner even after KB setup is complete. This is the chicken-egg pattern we flagged in Scenario A — the operator who wants AI before they want a widget hits this in week 1.

Scenario E — Inbox UX + human handover

Tidio Inbox panel showing My open conversations list, a live conversation thread with assignee chip, Customer Data sidebar with redacted PII, and Satisfaction Survey panel
Tidio Inbox panel — left rail with Live Conversations / Tickets / Mentions / Lyro AI Agent buckets and Messenger / Instagram / WhatsApp channel filters; conversation thread with Flow-triggered welcome message; right Customer Data sidebar (PII redacted). Captured 2026-05-29.

The inbox is the strongest single area we tested. It's organized into Live Conversations (Unassigned / My open / Solved), Tickets (Unassigned / My open / Solved), Mentions, and a dedicated Lyro AI Agent bucket. Channel-level filters (Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp) live in the bottom-left rail. The conversation panel includes a customer-profile sidebar with Email / Phone / Tags / Facebook Page / contact properties — the live-chat-first heritage is unmistakable. Keyboard shortcuts are first-class: spacebar for Copilot suggestions, / for Macros, ⌘K for actions — the kind of detail you only get in a product whose primary persona is a live-chat operator working at speed.

Two friction points worth flagging:

  1. Notifications-blocked-by-browser banner appears persistently at the top of the conversation panel when browser-level notification permission is denied. The "read how to allow notifications in your browser" link helps, but the warning takes up real estate every conversation until resolved.
  2. "We are not collecting satisfaction ratings on Messenger" appears in the Satisfaction Survey panel. For Messenger-channel CSAT (a meaningful signal for chatbot review platforms), this is a documented limitation — not a bug. Web/email CSAT collection works; Messenger does not.

Handover from Flow to human agent was clean. Once a visitor's Quick Reply matched "I need to talk with an operator", the conversation showed up in Unassigned, surfaced a notification, and assignment was a single click. Full conversation history including the Flow steps appeared in the new agent's view. Friction rating: 4.5/5 (deducted 0.5 for the Messenger-CSAT gap that future iterations will need to handle differently).

Scenario F — Analytics + Flow templates

Tidio Analytics Overview dashboard with Paid badge showing Interactions 0 Lyro AI Agent resolution rate 0 percent Leads acquired 1 from 30 April to 29 May 2026
Tidio Analytics Overview — Paid feature (badge top-left). Date-range picker, Interactions / Lyro resolution rate / Leads acquired KPIs, and a 30-day Leads-from-live-conversations vs Leads-from-Flows chart. Captured 2026-05-29.

Analytics carries a visible Paid badge — the dashboard is locked behind the paid tier even in the trial. Inside it: Overview (Interactions, Lyro AI resolution rate, Leads acquired), Human support, AI support, and Leads tabs. The date picker defaulted to a 30-day window. Our test traffic was thin — 1 lead captured, 0 Lyro interactions (Lyro never went live for paying conversations during trial), so the dashboards were largely empty of data. UX-wise it's clean and SMB-readable — not a Looker-replacement, not trying to be. Custom funnel building is not exposed at Starter/Growth tiers per pricing-page disclosure; you get fixed reports plus CSV export.

Tidio Flows editor Spinning Wheel promotional template canvas showing Visitor returns to site trigger Decision Card Messages Delay Random discount branches
Tidio Flow editor — Spinning Wheel pre-built promotional template (Visitor returns → Decision → Delay → Random branches with discount codes); right-side Setup panel with wheel preview. Captured 2026-05-28.

Pre-built Flow templates ship with the editor — we tested the Spinning Wheel promotional template (visitor returns → Decision Card Messages → Delay → Random branch → 15%/20% discount code). Template installation is a 2-click pattern; editing the discount values takes another minute. For SMB operators wanting "campaign in a box" patterns, the template library lowers the time-to-deploy meaningfully.

Bonus observation — Integrations catalog + widget appearance

Tidio Integrations catalog showing tiles for Agile CRM, Zendesk Sell, Zapier, Google Analytics, Pipedrive, Zendesk, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Omnisend, MailerLite, Brevo, HubSpot, Salesforce, Facebook (installed), Instagram, WhatsApp, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop
Tidio Integrations catalog — 8 category filters (B2B markets / Communication channels / CRM / E-commerce / Marketing automation / Billing & invoices / Customer support / My integrations) with 20+ tiles visible above the fold; Facebook shown as Installed. Captured 2026-05-29.

The integrations catalog surfaces 8 category filters and roughly 20 visible tiles above the fold — Shopify, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop for ecommerce; Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Omnisend, MailerLite, Brevo, Salesforce for marketing/CRM; Zapier + Google Tag Manager for orchestration. A Developer portal link is exposed in the bottom-left corner — useful for teams building custom integrations beyond the catalog.

Tidio Live Chat Appearance settings showing background color picker, action color, welcome image, header Hi there, message Welcome to our website, conversation starters, and right-side widget preview
Tidio Live Chat Appearance — Background / Action color pickers, Welcome image options (agents collage or your logo), header + message editors, and conversation-starter chips. Right pane shows live widget preview. Plus-tier required to remove POWERED BY TIDIO branding. Captured 2026-05-28.

The widget appearance editor exposes color, welcome image, header text, body message, and conversation-starter chips ("I have a question about the product", "Do you offer discount codes?"). Live preview pane updates as you edit. The POWERED BY TIDIO wordmark in the widget footer is locked behind the Plus tier — surfaced with a "Custom branding available on the Plus plan. Contact us to enable this feature." inline notice, which is honest tier-locking but worth flagging for SMBs sensitive to vendor branding on their own site.

We tested Lyro on a 15-question fact-extraction set per language using the same single-page support index. EN and PL hit 87% (13/15 grounded answers) — strongest among Tier 1 platforms we've tested. ES (MX) and PT-BR landed at 80% (12/15) with the failures clustering on idiomatic phrasings rather than semantic content; the underlying Claude (Anthropic) model handles both fluently, but the single-page KB caps the ceiling. DE/FR/IT were not exhaustively tested inside the 7-day window. The Polish-language strength is consistent with Tidio's Szczecin (Poland) engineering origin and the Polish-language UI localization documented on the vendor's About page.

Commercial surface — pricing add-ons + plan comparison

See the full editorial pricing analysis in Tidio pricing in 2026 above. The two captures below are the in-product surfaces buyers actually see when upgrading.

Tidio More automation, less effort add-ons modal showing two add-on cards Lyro AI Agent starting at €32.50/mo from 50 Lyro AI conversations with Human handoff Automatic communication style Knowledge-based responses Available as a stand-alone product 7-day free trial Calculate savings button, and Flows starting at €24.17/mo from 2000 visitors reached Collect data Quote request Handle missed conversations Available as a stand-alone product 7-day free trial button
Tidio commercial — add-on pricing modal surfaces Lyro AI Agent (€32.50/mo for 50 Lyro AI conversations, with 67% headline resolution-rate claim re-stated) and Flows (€24.17/mo for 2,000 visitors reached) as standalone subscriptions outside the Starter/Growth/Plus base tiers. The Calculate savings CTA on the Lyro card suggests the vendor anticipates buyers comparing AI-only metered pricing against full-tier upgrade economics. Captured 2026-05-29.
Tidio Compare plans modal showing 4 tiers Starter Growth Plus Premium with Monthly Annually toggle. Starter €24.17/mo 100 Billable conversations 7-day free trial This plan includes 50 Lyro AI Agent conversations 100 Flows visitors reached Live chat ticketing Live visitors list Operating hours Basic analytics Live chat channels. Plus €749/mo Custom Billable conversations Everything in Growth plus Departments Multiproject Custom branding Ticketing automations Live chat support Dedicated Success Manager OpenAPI Custom limits Custom number of seats Larger attachments. Premium Contact for pricing Contact sales From 3000 Lyro AI conversations with Guaranteed 50% Lyro AI resolution rate Pay-per-resolution billing Mobile SDK AI insights and CSAT Super admin role Custom analytics Advanced Copilot Security and services Lyro AI as a managed service Slack support Compliance SSO.
Tidio Compare plans modal — 4-tier hierarchy (Starter / Growth / Plus / Premium) with Monthly/Annually toggle (default Annually with 2 months free); Growth marked Popular. Premium surfaces the unique Guaranteed 50% Lyro AI resolution rate clause with pay-per-resolution billing — the AI-performance guarantee structure documented in the [AI capabilities section above](#tidio-ai-capabilities-lyro-deep-dive). Captured 2026-05-29.

Editorial reading on the commercial surface. The two pricing captures together close the loop on Tidio's pricing-model story: the add-ons modal confirms Lyro and Flows ship as standalone subscriptions (a buyer who only wants AI deflection can pay €32.50/mo without upgrading the base tier); the Compare plans modal confirms the headline Premium clause Guaranteed 50% Lyro AI resolution rate is not marketing-only — it sits in the comparison table as a contractual feature with pay-per-resolution billing structure. For buyers comparing AI economics across platforms, this is the strongest commercial AI-performance commitment in the chatbot-builder category at the time of capture.

Gaps and caveats from this test cycle

Each open item below carries a concrete validation path for the 2026-11-26 re-verification cycle per our projection-accountability commitment:

  1. BSP template approval timing not measured — requires a real Meta Business Manager + verified WhatsApp Business number, which sits outside the 7-day trial window. Validation path: scheduled with the 2026-11-26 cycle on a Growth-tier paid account with a sandbox WABA number provisioned for the timing measurement.
  2. Lyro steady-state resolution rate not measured — single-page KB index inside the trial caps the answer ceiling. Vendor's 67% resolution-rate claim is on multi-week fully-indexed deployments. Validation path: scheduled with the 2026-11-26 cycle — multi-week Growth-tier deployment against a 20-page real-customer support KB, with weekly snapshots until steady-state.
  3. Messenger CSAT not supported — confirmed in the inbox Satisfaction Survey panel ("We are not collecting satisfaction ratings on Messenger"). Web/email CSAT works. Validation path: structural confirmation only — vendor surface explicitly states this is a Meta-platform constraint; we re-verify the panel copy at 2026-11-26 in case Tidio ships a workaround.
  4. Analytics gated as Paid — even the trial does not unlock full dashboards. Operators evaluating Tidio for analytics depth should request a sales demo. Validation path: scheduled with the 2026-11-26 cycle on a Growth-tier paid account; we will publish per-widget analytics captures from Overview, Human support, AI support, and Leads tabs.
  5. Page names + customer PII redacted in screenshots — our test account connected to several live business pages; identifiers are blurred in published captures. No validation gap — PII redaction is permanent editorial policy per our editorial standards.

Re-test commitment

We will re-run this 6-scenario protocol against Tidio on the same six-month cadence as our other Tier 1 reviews. Specific deferred items above (BSP template timing, multi-week Lyro steady-state) will be measured in a dedicated follow-up by 2026-11-26 or sooner if vendor pricing/features pages change materially.

What we did NOT capture during this session (queued for the 2026-11-26 follow-up): live WhatsApp BSP template submission flow + Meta approval timing measurement; multi-week Lyro steady-state resolution-rate measurement against a fully-indexed KB; Plus-tier custom-branding flow (POWERED BY TIDIO removal); Premium-tier AI-performance refund-clause execution; OpenAPI custom-integration build.

FAQ

Is Tidio free?

Yes, the Free tier is genuinely usable: 50 conversations/month + 50 Lyro AI conversations one-off + 100 Flows visitors trial + 10 seats + WhatsApp + Instagram + Messenger + email + website widget. The next paid step is Starter at $29/month monthly-billed ($24.17/month annual-equivalent — 16.7% annual discount). A 7-day free trial of paid features is available with no credit card required.

Does Tidio support WhatsApp?

Yes. WhatsApp Business API integration is available across all tiers (Free through Premium) per the pricing page verified 26 May 2026. However, Tidio's Meta Business Solution Provider (BSP) status is not as prominently badged as Manychat or Chatfuel — pre-purchase, ask sales whether template approval routes through Tidio as direct BSP (expedited) or via Meta's standard BSP partner channel.

Is Tidio better than Manychat?

Depends on use case. Tidio is live-chat-first with stronger website + Shopify integration depth, Claude-based AI with MCP support (unique in category), and the largest aggregator review footprint (590 Capterra reviews 4.7/5 vs Manychat's 72). Manychat is messenger-first with broader channel coverage (7 channels including Telegram + SMS + TikTok), much larger brand recognition (482k monthly searches vs Tidio's TBD), and stronger growth-tooling (comment-to-DM, Instagram automation). Pick Tidio for website-led ecommerce support with AI. Pick Manychat for messenger-marketing funnels.

Can I use my own AI (OpenAI or Anthropic API key) with Tidio?

No. Lyro AI is fully vendor-managed — Tidio operates the Claude (Anthropic) stack on the customer's behalf. There is no advertised path to connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or self-hosted LLM API key. If self-managed LLM keys are a requirement, evaluate platforms with explicit BYOLLM support.

Does Tidio support MCP (Model Context Protocol)?

Yes — uniquely among Tier 1 chatbot-builder platforms we've reviewed. Tidio's Lyro AI agent supports MCP for Smart Actions tool exposure per the vendor's AI agent product page (verified 26 May 2026). Manychat does not advertise MCP support; Chatfuel does not advertise MCP support. For teams building toward MCP-orchestrated agent architectures, Tidio is the natural integration partner.

What languages does Tidio support?

Tidio's UI is localized to 7 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish (verified at tidio.com footer + product localization page 26 May 2026). Lyro AI's underlying Claude (Anthropic) model has broad multilingual coverage at the model level, but Tidio does not publish a certified product-level supported-NLU-languages list with accuracy claims. Verify with sales for non-EN/ES/PT-BR/FR/DE/IT/PL deployment.

How does Tidio pricing scale?

Tidio uses 5 tiers in 2026. Monthly-billed prices (annual-billed-monthly equivalents in parentheses): Free $0, Starter $29/mo ($24.17 annual, 100 conversations + 50 Lyro one-off), Growth $59/mo ($49.17 annual, up to 2,000 conversations + Lyro included), Plus $749/mo (annual-only enterprise, custom seats + departments + OpenAPI), Premium custom (3,000+ Lyro conversations + 50%-resolution-rate guarantee with refund clause). Lyro AI metering on Free + Starter is one-off (not monthly refresh); Growth and above include Lyro with custom limits.

Is Tidio HIPAA-compliant?

Vendor pages display SOC 2 certification but do not advertise HIPAA compliance or Business Associate Agreement (BAA) availability. For healthcare communication, verify directly with sales — assume no until vendor confirms in writing. Evaluate purpose-built HIPAA-ready platforms if compliance is mission-critical.

Verdict

Bottom line by buyer profile

If you only read one section, read this. Three named-persona recommendations to short-circuit the decision:

  • Shopify or WordPress ecommerce SMB needing live-chat + AI + WhatsApp on a single platform → Buy Tidio Growth at $59/mo monthly-billed. This is the cheapest live-chat-first option with AI included, MCP support, and 2,000-conversation capacity in our chatbot-builder dataset. Value for Money 0.81 (excellent) applies.
  • Solo operator or very small SMB under 50 conversations/month → Start on Tidio Free ($0) for 50 conversations + 50 Lyro one-off + 10 seats. Upgrade to Starter ($29 monthly) when conversation volume crosses ~40/month or you exhaust the 50 Lyro one-off. Don't pay until you genuinely need to.
  • Anthropic-aligned or MCP-required deployment → Buy Tidio — it's the only Tier 1 chatbot-builder we've reviewed running Lyro AI on Claude (Anthropic) with confirmed MCP support. No competitor in the category currently offers this combination. The Premium tier 50%-resolution-rate guarantee adds commercial floor on AI performance.

Verdict

Best for
SMB ecommerce on Shopify/WordPress needing live-chat-first support + AI + WhatsApp; Anthropic-aligned or MCP-required deployments; teams valuing the 50%-Lyro-resolution-rate guarantee
Skip if
You need Telegram/SMS/TikTok as native channels (not supported natively), BYOLLM with your own Anthropic/OpenAI key, sub-$25/mo paid pricing (Tidio Starter starts at $29/mo monthly-billed), or messenger-marketing-first growth tools (Manychat is better positioned)
Consider instead
Manychat for messenger-marketing funnels + broader channels + larger vendor; Chatfuel for unlimited-contacts flat $69/mo above 2,500 conversations; Crisp for European EUR-default live-chat alternative

Editorial recommendation. Tidio earns its strong score (80) cleanly: live-chat-first product architecture matched to SMB ecommerce reality, uniquely strong aggregator review footprint (590 Capterra 4.7/5 — biggest dataset in our Tier 1 chatbot-builder batch), Claude-based Lyro AI with MCP support (unique combo in category), 50%-resolution-rate guarantee with refund clause (uniquely de-risks AI deployment), and 13-year vendor history with mid-tier $25M Series B funding. Our hands-on observations on 2026-05-28 → 2026-05-29 validated the core product (9-min Flow ship time, 4.5/5 inbox UX, 87% EN/PL Lyro answer rate on single-page KB, 6.7% hallucination — Claude's safe-refusal posture cap) and surfaced honest constraints (the widget-then-Lyro two-step pattern, Messenger CSAT not supported, BSP routing not badged in the trial UI). The gaps (BSP-status-not-clearly-badged, no Telegram/SMS/TikTok native, no BYOLLM, annual-billed-monthly headline framing, Lyro-one-off metering on Free + Starter) are real but not blocking for the primary SMB-ecommerce-on-Shopify use case. Per our Tier 1 re-verification protocol, this review will be fully refreshed by 26 November 2026.

About this review

Author: By Chatbotscape Editorial — institutional byline backed by named team credentials (product analysts, conversation designers, software engineers; combined hands-on experience across Manychat, Botpress, Intercom, Voiceflow, Dialogflow, Rasa, custom LLM stacks). Lead-reviewer contact available on request to corrections@chatbotscape.com. Chatbotscape is an independent SMB-focused chatbot platform review and comparison site — we are not employees, contractors, or paid partners of any platform we review.

Methodology: Every Tier 1 review follows a documented 17-dimension scoring rubric (How we test) covering AI/NLU, channel coverage, pricing, value-for-money, vendor stability, localization, support quality, and 10 additional dimensions. Pricing claims are verified directly from vendor pricing pages within 30 days of publish. Feature claims are mapped 1:1 to vendor source pages or explicitly flagged as pending. Cross-platform comparisons use monthly-billed lower-bound pricing (see pricing methodology). Value for Money is calculated per the VfM dimension methodology. Hands-on testing follows a standardized 6-scenario protocol.

How we make money: Chatbotscape earns affiliate commission on paid sign-ups through links on review pages (see full affiliate disclosure). Affiliate revenue does not influence editorial scoring — scoring is locked to the published rubric before any commercial relationship is evaluated. Several reviewed platforms have no affiliate program; their scoring follows the same rubric.

Conflicts of interest disclosed for this review: Tidio has a public affiliate program; Chatbotscape's affiliate status with Tidio as of 26 May 2026 is pending application. The editorial score (80) was finalized before any commercial discussion.
